Pete F. Buffer - JD, CLU, ChFC, CFP®
President
Pete Buffer has been in the financial services industry since 1981 following his nine years of practicing law. He specialized in estate and business planning with Northwestern Mutual for twenty-five years and has been an independent financial advisor since 2006. Pete received a business administration degree and his law degree from the University of Iowa. He is also a Certified Financial Planner®, a Chartered Life Underwriter and a Chartered Financial Consultant. Along with his many designations he holds the Series 7 general securities representative, and Series 65 investment advisor representative licenses. Pete also taught financial courses at Parsons College, Iowa Wesleyan and The University of Iowa.
Values based estate and financial planning is Pete's focus. He was formerly a partner in the Anderson & Buffer Law Firm where he focused on the areas of estate planning, family corporations, probate, and taxation. Pete helped establish the Mid-Prairie Community School District Foundation, served as the Foundation President for over twelve years and was recognized as a Friend of Education in 1987. Pete is a past-president of the Kalona Rotary Club; he is currently the club's Rotary Foundation chairman.
Pete grew up around the Rock Island Railroad and maintains an ongoing interest in trains; he also has many other hobbies including scuba diving, genealogy, photography, and travel. His desire to travel the world may have been sparked from the three years he served in the US Army where he was a basic electronics instructor and radar repairman, serving one of those years in Korea. As Pete travels he enjoys creating travel books which you may see when you visit our office.
Brian T. Kelso, AIF®

Brian Kelso has been in the financial services industry since 1999; he began working within the insurance industry and then broadened the scope of his practice to include registered securities in 2004. These experiences as well as his studies of market analysis at Western Illinois University have given him the hands on knowledge of how to position clients through changing market cycles. He is an Accredited Investment Fiduciary® and he holds the Series 24 General Securities Principal, Series 7 General Securities Representative, Series 10 Sales Supervisor Securities, Series 9 Sales Supervisor Options, and the Series 66 Uniform Investment Advisor and Securities Agent licenses. The AIF® designation certifies he has specialized knowledge of fiduciary standards of care and their application to the investment management process.
Brian's expertise is in helping clients manage their financial affairs in a holistic manner. He will help you develop a financial plan to meet your needs and goals while taking into consideration your risk profile. Through this process he will sit down with you to consistently review your portfolio and make adjustments as your goals change due to life events.
Outside of work Brian is a member of the Kalona Rotary and he is a current board member and past President of the Kalona Golf Club. He enjoys spending time on the golf course, restoring classic cars, painting, and building go karts for his grandchildren. He loves Hawkeye sports especially football and basketball.
Tim Sullivan, CLU, ChFC

Tim has been in the Financial Services industry for nearly 30 years, since his graduation from Loras College in Dubuque. He holds the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designations from The American College.
Tim’s experience, analytical abilities, and communication style help his clients understand business and financial opportunities necessary to achieve their fiscal and financial goals. He is a registered representative holding his Series 6, 7, and 63 registrations. In addition to being an Investment Advisor, Tim is licensed to assist with life, health, disability and long term care insurance.

Tim’s true passion is in officiating local high school athletics. On any given evening, he can be found on the gridiron, hardcourt or ball diamond depending upon the time of year.
Tim and his four children, Christina, Carley, Danny and Claire call Iowa City their “Hometown”.
D. Paul Bell

Paul Bell has over 15 years of experience in the financial services industry. He holds the FINRA series 6 and 63 licenses, he is also licensed to sell life, property and casualty, health, and personal lines insurance products. He attended the University of Iowa where he received a B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Business. Paul has worked for many growth oriented firms in the insurance and financial services industry. He strongly believes in the motto, "If you help enough other people get what they want, you will get all you want in life.”- Zig Ziglar
When it comes to helping clients Paul's priorities embody turning over every stone, outlining your options, educating you, and putting his clients first. Paul takes a personal interest in every person and business he works with, so it's no surprise that many of his clients have become lifelong friends. Whether you catch him out on the golf course, traveling, or at a community event with his family, he welcomes getting to know you. He has an entrepreneurial spirit and loves sports of all kinds.
Terry E. Hagedorn
Research Specialist
Terry Hagedorn has spent over 15 years in the financial industry. He has worked as a staff accountant with the Cedar Rapids office of RSM McGladrey and held a supervisory accounting position with AEGON Corp. in Cedar Rapids. Terry has also held various positions with the US Postal Service including delivery analyst and postmaster. He has been part of the team at Financial Concepts since 2005.
Terry earned his BS degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from Colorado State University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. In developing accurate data and presenting it in a form that is readily understandable Terry places the highest value on integrity above all else. When he is away from the office he volunteers with Informed Choices Medical Clinic and enjoys genealogy research.
